HandsOn Battle Creek works with the desire to be a part of something bigger, the drive for change, the aspiration to make a difference, and turns it into action through volunteering.
Mark Jones - AmeriCorp VISTA, 211 Program
Mark Jones grew up in Blissfield, MI, but moved to the west side of the State for college. He recently graduated from Western Michigan University in April 2009, with degrees in Public Policy and Social Psychology. Mark is currently applying to graduate schools to pursue his Masters of Urban Planning, which he will begin in the fall of 2010. Prior to working for HandsOn, Mark was a research assistant at the W.E. Upjohn Research Institute in Kalamazoo, MI.
Mark looks forward to building off of his current skills and acquiring new ones. This opportunity will help him to understand the roles that non profits have within society. Networking with the different non profits and local governments in and around Battle Creek will be a great education tool, and he knows that he will get a lot out of his experience of being a VISTA here at HandsOn Battle Creek.
HandsOn Battle Creek is currently making a list of people that may want to get involved in the clean-up efforts for the Kalamazoo River. As soon as opportunities are created, volunteers will be contacted by the Office of Emergency Management. To become a part of this effort, you must create a user profile on our website, or if you already have one login by clicking here.
